Slovak-based company Chirana T. Injecta is ready to deliver two million syringes to Slovakia during February and March and subsequently, it can supply an additional 500,000 per month from April to the end of the year. This news occurred after the media started reporting on a shortage of syringes in Slovak hospitals, which even lead to binning vaccines.
The Denník N daily wrote that the Slovak Health Ministry started its negotiation this week. According to the news outlet, the company reportedly warned the Slovak government as early as March 2020 to order syringes as there would be significant demand for them.
The company's general director Teodor Lysak said that the promised number of syringes should be enough for the needs of Slovak vaccination centres, given the numbers of incoming vaccines with a reserve.
