Former Financial Administration Chief detained

The National Crime Agency (NAKA) detained former Financial Administration (tax and customs office) president František Imrecze and eight other people as part of an operation codenamed 'Toll Collector'.The reason for the detentions involves criminal activities related to machinations in public procurement and corruption. Imrecze was at the helm of the Financial Administration until September 2018, when he decided to resign following a scandal involving customs fraud. The news website Pluska.sk reported that the police also carried out a raid on Bratislava's DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel owned by tycoon Juraj Široký. The list of those charged as part of this operation reportedly also includes oligarch Jozef Brhek who is however not in Slovakia at the moment. According to the indictment, the police refer to the involved as an organized group.
