Bratislava plans to continue offering mass testing for COVID

The city of Bratislava plans to open a number of testing sites over the weekend of January 30-31 to afford its inhabitants an option to test themselves for COVID-19, with city authorities planning to invite those who test positive to subsequent PCR testing in order to determine the potential presence of the new British mutation, mayor Matus Vallo announced on Thursday. Although Bratislava is faring better than some other districts in terms of coronavirus incidence, it doesn't mean that the threat of the disease has gone away, warns Vallo. Any dropping of the guard would mean a quick return to another spike in the number of newly infected. "Bratislava hospitals still don't have any vacant beds in reserve and our only chance is to stop the virus before the hospital stage. Let's observe the lockdown, avoid risky contacts and everyone who can should continue working from home," he added.
