On the occasion of Joseph R. Biden being sworn in as 46th US president in Washington on Wednesday, Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová sent a letter of congratulations to both President Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris. In the letter, Čaputová expressed her belief that their accession to power would translate into bolstered relations between the USA and Slovakia. The Slovak president at the same time welcomed the USA's decision to re-join the Paris Climate Agreement. Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) on Wednesday wished the new US President Joe Biden "strength and perseverance" so that he could fulfil his mission of healing divisions in society. Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollár (We Are Family) congratulated the new US President Joe Biden, wishing him "wisdom and many good decisions". "Slovakia confirms its readiness and interest in co-operating with the incoming administration and continues to deepen mutual relations between the Slovak Republic and the USA," stated the press department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in response to the inauguration of new US President Joe Biden.
