The registered unemployment rate increased by 0.19 percentage points month-on-month in December to reach 7.57 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. The office calculated that a total of 8,021 people managed to find a job in December, while the number of job vacancies exceeded 66,000. According to the Statistics Office, the fact that unemployment increased only slightly during the pandemic and restrictions can be attributed to active working policies on the labour market that help people to land jobs. In the office's view, the situation on the labour market is stable. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in December increased by 2.65 percentage points year-on-year.
