V4 leaders: Cooperation needed in time of pandemic

The parliamentary chairs of the Visegrad Four countries (V4: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) have agreed on the need for co-operation in preparing for the use of EU funds based on national recovery plans, Slovak Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollár spokeswoman Michaela Jurcova announced after an online V4 meeting on Tuesday.

The head of the Slovak Parliament declared support for reducing emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030. Considering the new Pact on Migration and Asylum proposed by the European Commission, Kollár emphasised that on the topic of migration he finds agreement across the entire political spectrum. "However, we fundamentally reject the concept of compulsory redistribution of asylum seekers," he added.

The parliamentary chairs also addressed the current situation in Belarus, pointing to human rights violations and calling for an immediate end to violence against its own citizens, the immediate release of political prisoners and an honest and open dialogue with members of all currents of opinion.
