In his New Year speech, the head of the Office for Slovaks living abroad Jan Milan Pilip stressed the solidarity and empathy of expat communities in the COVID-19 stricken year 2020. He appealed to ex-pats to continue in their creativity and activities in order to continue keeping their ties alive. Pilip underlined the need to be creative in new ways of presenting and organising ex-pats' events. At the same time, he highly praised the tolerance and loyalty to their home country of Slovaks living abroad as well as their participation in various activities organised due to strict anti-pandemic measures.
