Info on reopening schools to be released on Tuesday

The Education Ministry has announced on social media that it would provide information regarding the reopening of schools in January no later than on Tuesday. The ministry will subsequently contact all the entities concerned - namely local governments, the Association of Self-governing Regions, individual schools and professional organisations. Given the imposed lockdown in the country, the ministry aims to reopen schools on January 11. Education Minister Branislav Groehling (SaS) has already initiated a meeting of the council of epidemiologists in order to assess the matter. He has also approached the chief hygienist and Health Minister, asking them to draw up recommendations. Representatives of the Education Ministry have scheduled an online meeting to discuss the matter with mayors of the 70 largest towns and cities in Slovakia.
