Soldiers in missions greeted by President and Defence Minister

President Zuzana Caputova and Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) on Thursday contacted Slovak soldiers serving within foreign missions and operations in Afghanistan, Latvia, Cyprus and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two officials were interested in the current security situation in the aforementioned countries, in the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the given regions and in how the soldiers will spend Christmas and New Year.
Caputova, who is commander-in-chief of the Slovak armed forces, stressed that we can spend a peaceful and undisturbed holiday thanks to our soldiers who cannot have an undisturbed holiday. Thanks to the work of Slovak soldiers alongside allies abroad, Slovakia is a fully-fledged part of building security in the world, stressed Defence Minister Nad. "I know that in the service of the homeland, in a way one also gains another 'family' - people who can rely on each other even in the most critical situations and under all circumstances," stated the minister. A total of 442 Slovak soldiers are currently serving within foreign missions and international crisis management operations.
