As Parliament on Thursday did not hold a vote on an amendment to a constitutional law on state security that would allow the Government to extend a state of emergency repeatedly due to non-violent causes by a maximum of 40 days, although only with subsequent approval from Parliament, the current state of emergency in the country should expire on December 29th. MPs on Thursday claimed that they are ready to vote on the amendment if need be by the end of this year, even though the vote has actually been postponed until the next parliamentary session, which is due to be held in January.
