Former Economy minister charged with bribery

The National Crime Agency has pressed charges of bribery against MP for the Voice-SD party and ex-economy minister Peter Žiga, the police announced on their Facebook account on Thursday, with the news outlet aktuality.sk being the first to report this. Reports that Nitra-based oligarch Norbert Bodor, who is currently in custody suspected of pulling strings with the police during the governments of Smer-SD, once paid the police €50,000 to ignore carousel fraud committed by the ex-economy minister's relative appeared in early December. Peter Žiga denied any involvement. Vice-chairs of the extra-parliamentary Voice-SD party Richard Raši and Denisa Saková on Thursday could not confirm information that their party colleague Žiga had been charged with bribery, with Raši stating that he does not have any reason to mistrust his colleague.
