"I received the Light of Bethlehem from Slovak scouts on Tuesday evening," President Zuzana Čaputová posted on a social network on the same day, adding that she perceives the Light of Bethlehem as a symbol of peace and unity.
Čaputová praised on this occasion the contribution of Slovak scouting, as also evidenced, according to her, by its service during the novel coronavirus pandemic. "In helping homeless people or dependent seniors, it has become one of the examples of what kind of society we can be - empathetic, cohesive and tolerant," she said.
The head of state thanked all the scouts for maintaining the tradition of the Light of Bethlehem in Slovakia.
