November 2020 was warmest in history

November 2020 was the warmest of Novembers in the history of keeping track of temperature. Moreover, temperatures in autumn in Europe were also the warmest in history, reported experts from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). From September to November, temperatures in Europe were 1.9 degrees Celsius higher than their usual values for that period and 0.4 degrees Celsius higher than the average autumn temperature in 2006. Moreover, satellite pictures showed that the surface of glaciers in Arctic Ocean was the smallest since 1979. "All policymakers who prioritize climate risk mitigation should view these alerts as warning signals and, more than ever before, consider how best to meet the international commitments set out in the 2015 Paris Agreement," said C3S director Carlo Buontempo.
