Economy Minister: Construction of Mochovce powerplant delayed, but secure

On Thursday, the Economy minister Richard Sulík personally visited the Mochovce nuclear power plant to inspect if the works on its completion were following the valid schedule. This visit took place following the news from the Slovak Information Service regarding the safety of the nuclear plant. They labelled Mochovce a Slovak "mega-problem". According to the Economy minister, the concerns of the information service are a reaction to the technical problems with the plant's completion, rather than security problems. Sulík also stressed on Wednesday that it is in Slovakia's interests for Mochovce's two reactors to be put on line as soon as possible. Delays in construction increase the cost of the project and the debts of Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) power utility.
