Miroslav Marček was sentenced to 25 years in a maximum security prison on Wednesday for the murders of journalist Ján Kuciak, his fiancée Martina Kušnírová and businessman Peter Molnár. The Supreme Court senate issued the decision, thereby overruling the Specialised Criminal Court's more lenient sentence.
Marček was originally sentenced to 23 years in prison by Specialised Criminal Court. He had obtained the reduced sentence for assisting the police with the inquiries. However, the prosecutor on the case appealed against this decision due to lack of sufficient ground for the reduction of the sentence.
