The National Criminal Agency (NAKA) has pressed charges against eight people as part of an operation codenamed "Judas", Police Corps spokesman Michal Slivka announced on Wednesday, adding that the operation continues, with NAKA detaining six more people. The charges mainly concern corruption. In addition, charges of endangering a confidential fact and blackmail have been pressed against one person, with charges of founding and supporting a criminal gang levelled against another.
According to the information published by the JOJ TV channel, Police were to indict, among others, former police president Milan Lučanský. The Denník N daily adds that NAKA was to detain the deputy director of the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS), Boris Beňa, as well as former vice-president of financial administration Daniel Čech.
According to an investigator those charged were committing crimes, which concerned at least eight actions, over a long period. The police will provide more details as soon as the procedural situation allows for this.
