Penta Boss and Gorilla case main figure charged with corruption

Head of the Penta financial group Jaroslav Haščák has been charged by a police investigator with corruption and money laundering, Aktuality.sk news website and Dennik N daily reported on Tuesday.

Haščák was a key figure in the Gorilla file case and his name also appeared in connection with the Kuciak murder case. The Gorilla file, which was made public in December 2011, consisted of transcripts of alleged bribe-related discussions between several politicians and people from financial groups. Since 2012, a special investigation team has been working on the case.

One day after being charged, Jaroslav Haščák resigned from all executive positions at Penta. He remains, however, its co-owner.
