PG election: PM wants gov’t to agree on one name

The vote for a new prosecutor-general should take place only when the coalition agrees on a single candidate, said Prime Minister Igor Matovič. The PM thus reacted to the statement of another governing party, Freedom and Solidarity, that the coalition had agreed on a so called green card for coalition parties in this vote. Deputy Speaker of Parliament of the junior coalition For the People party Juraj Šeliga agrees with the PM, stating that the coalition is obliged to agree on a single candidate for the post of prosecutor-general. He added that it would be unfortunate if the coalition failed to reach a consensus and one of the coalition parties decided to hold talks with the opposition. The vote for the Prosecutor General was supposed to take place last week, however, it was postponed to December 1.
