MPs will probably elect a candidate for the post of Prosecutor General later - not on Wednesday but on Thursday, November 26, according to the head of the parliamentary constitutional committee Milan Vetrák. The reason for the delay is the unusually long duration of hearings. "We want it to be really a grilling of candidates," Vetrák noted. According to the Denník N daily it is already clear that the Slovak Republic has not yet experienced a more transparent and professional selection process. The last two hearings were scheduled for Monday. Vetrak stated that based on the hearings the committee would adopt resolutions assessing whether each candidate meets the criteria to run in a vote in Parliament.
The applicants for the PG's post are the prosecutor at the Prosecutor General's Office Jozef Čentéš, prosecutors at the Special Prosecutor's Office Ján Hrivnák, Tomáš Honz, Ján Šanta and Maroš Žilinka, a prosecutor from the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Banská Bystrica Rastislav Remeta and Supreme Court judge Juraj Kliment.
