In regard to the situation in Ukraine, Slovakia has adopted special measures to strengthen the protection of the eastern border, Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák stated after the Cabinet session on Wednesday.
The Minister did not want to specify what these measures were. “We have increased our readiness and activity levels. We adopted emergency measures,” he stated. According to Kaliňák, Slovakia has already received the first four applications for asylum from Ukraine. He added that Slovakia is ready to be very open in these procedures. According to Economy Minister Thomas Malatinský, the conflict in Ukraine is not jeopardising the supply of gas to Slovakia as of yet.
