Protest gatherings, including those of ultras, to be held on November 17

On November 17, the day when Slovakia commemorates the anniversary of the Velvet revolution and the struggle for freedom and democracy, there will be several protests held against the government of Igor Matovič. Bratislava's Old Town borough has been notified about six gatherings due to take place on its territory. The Ultras football fans and far-right extremists, whose last gathering in mid-October was disassembled by the police, should hold one of the gatherings. The opposition Smer-SD and extra-parliamentary Slovak National Party also call on people to take part in civic anti-government protests. "I view this as absolutely irresponsible," said Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď (OĽaNO). Meanwhile, a ban on gatherings of more than six people remains in place, therefore according to the Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OľaNO), if someone is preparing a protest in such situation, he is breaking the law.
