Adapting of new border procedures to avoid potential problems with their implementation

Procedures on state borders need to be adapted so that no problems occur, said Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (a Freedom and Solidarity/SaS nominee) following the Cabinet session on Wednesday. "The aim is to adapt border procedures to the conditions we have at home, i.e. reduced mobility, and at the same time to keep borders permeable in a sustainable manner; naturally, with the necessary tests," said Korčok. Meanwhile, the minister will ensure that there will be enough time between the adoption of measures and their implementation. This should enable Slovakia to inform neighbouring countries about its border procedures so that they can prepare properly for them. According to the minister, Slovakia is also taking over the traffic-light system of the European Commission. People coming to Slovakia from Ukraine can only use the border crossing at Vyšné Nemecké as of Monday (November 9). It is open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., and antigen testing for COVID-19 is compulsory.
