The credit market in Slovakia has not yet been significantly affected by the pandemic of the new coronavirus and symptoms of the situation are beginning to manifest themselves in lending only gradually, stated the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) in its latest Quarterly Commentary on the macro-prudential policy. Although loans to the private sector continued to moderate their growth in the second quarter of this year, they continued to maintain the sixth fastest growth among European Union (EU) countries at a year-on-year rate of 5.9%. Almost all banks tightened lending conditions after the onset of the corona crisis, but without a significant impact on credit growth.
