On Wednesday, Slovak Medical Chamber (SLK) president Marián Kollár called on the Government to reconsider the planned across-the-board testing of the population for novel coronavirus and sit down at a table with experts for a discussion. "We have a serious suspicion that the decision to engage in across-the-board testing was not professional at all," said Kollár. He views it as important to have a strategy prepared and to say what will follow, which according to him was not the case last weekend when the mass testing took place in the first four districts.
Moreover, he asked who would take care of infected health-care workers, adding that that there are not enough health-care professionals for the tests, or enough equipment. He only considers regular testing in facilities such as care homes, food-production sites and strategic companies as meaningful. He also views the decision of doctors who have decided not to assist in the testing as legitimate, as they need to "save strength and resources".
