Slovak government approved the reintroduction of a so-called pandemic parental allowance in reaction to the unfavourable epidemic situation in Slovakia.
The pandemic allowance can be claimed by parents who are no longer entitled to standard parental allowance. That happens when their child reaches the age of 3 or 6 (in case of long-term unfavourable health condition). This also applies to permanent and temporary residents in Slovakia. In addition, the benefit should apply to children who are entrusted to foster care. "It is proposed to provide these persons with parental allowance in the same amount as they were provided before, until the end of the crisis situation at the latest," the Ministry of Labour said.
Moreover, seriously disabled persons, too, can claim a transport allowance amounting to 16.4% of the minimum subsistence figure for one adult. "The allowance also takes into consideration disabled persons who will use delivery services in order to provide themselves with food and other basic needs," explained the Ministry.
