After participating in a session of the Security Council on Tuesday, President Zuzana Čaputová stated that although she agrees with the idea of carrying out voluntary across-the-board testing for coronavirus in the country, she doesn't think that it can be called voluntary if those who don't attend will be penalised for not participating.
At the same time, Čaputová stated that Health Minister Marek Krajci (OLaNO) assured her that the operation won't impact staff in hospitals, which means that the functioning of individual hospitals won't be affected.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) stated on Wednesday before the Government session that the Cabinet is still debating whether those who won't participate in the planned mass testing should be ordered to isolate themselves for ten days. He also announced that more information on the mass testing will be published on a new special webpage soon to be released.
Meanwhile, the Private Doctors Association announced that the planned mass testing for coronavirus is unprepared, wrong and dangerous, adding that the whole plan is rather questionable. The group therefore suggests that we stop this plan and start discussing it. "We have to set clear rules in order to avoid examining rooms breaking down followed by the collapse of the whole system," said president of the association, Marián Šóth. Prime Minister Igor Matovič, however, announced on Tuesday that the coalition parties have expressed their unambiguous support for carrying out voluntary mass testing for coronavirus in the country.
