At its regular session on Wednesday the Cabinet passed a draft for providing support to foreign armed forces admitted onto Slovak territory (host nation support - HNS).
The Government has tasked the defence minister with forming an inter-departmental working group by December 31, in order to prepare a proposal for setting up the National Steering Group to Provide HNS.
HNS is an international commitment for Slovakia. "It significantly contributes towards the effective operations of allied forces on its territory, or the transfer of allied troops to another country's territory, in terms of preparing and meeting the collective protective and international crisis management tasks of NATO and EU-member states," reads the document sponsored by the Defence Ministry.
The purpose of the HNS concept is to propose comprehensive systemic measures at the Slovak government level in order that Slovakia may provide HNS to ensure security and address crises (wartime and state of war) in accordance with Slovakia's international commitments.
