As much as 63.4% of tourists in the High Tatras in 2013 were Slovak, according to visitor numbers concerning the High Tatras in 2013 drawn up by the Regional Tourism Organization in the High Tatras Region.
When it comes to the numbers of visitors from abroad, Czechs - as is usually the case - came highest, followed by Poles. According to the organization’s executive director Lenka Maťašovská, as far as an annual rise is concerned, Ukrainians were clearly atop, as they leaped from sixth to third place. Next in the overall numbers came South Koreans, Germans, Hungarians, Russians, Austrians, Lithuanians and Brits.
