Košice saw the coronation of a new king of the Roma on Saturday after entrepreneur Róbert Botoš was elected to the position by representatives of Roma living in Slovakia in late February.
According to the newly-crowned Róbert I., his role will lie mainly in unifying the Roma, restoring the right values in Roma communities as well as in cooperation with those who help the Roma. A golden crown adorned with brilliants, rubies and emeralds was placed on his head by ‘Jendo from Senec ‘, who was the previous king of the Roma. The ceremony - first ever of its kind in Slovakia - was attended by a number of guests from Slovakia and abroad alike.
