Slovakia is closely observing the situation in Belarus and is not indifferent to what is going on in the country, stated Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok after meeting Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya, the leader of the Belarussian opposition. Tikhanovskaya is visiting Bratislava for the Globsec security conference. During her visit, she is also meeting the top Slovak politicians, including the Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová. Following her meeting with the Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovič, Tikhanovskaya thanked Slovakia for its strong support in Belarus's fight for freedom. The leader of the Belarusian opposition said that she also feels the support from Slovakia in providing Belarussian students with exchange programs or setting up a humanitarian corridor. Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovič said that Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya is a role model for many women. Tikhanovskaya on Wednesday received this year's Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award handed out at the Globsec security conference.
