Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber goes on strike alert

Members of the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPPK) have announced a strike alert. They are extremely critical of the situation in the agricultural sector, which according to them the state continues to either ignore or underestimate. According to the chamber´s chair Emil Macho, the Slovak draft for the EU Recovery Plan was the final straw, as it does not include any mention of agriculture or food. Agriculture Minister Ján Mičovský (OĽaNO) is convinced that there is no real reason for any strike alert. "I regularly meet with farmers and discuss with them the problems they face," said Mičovský in his response. At the same time, he sees the strike alert as a legitimate democratic tool that allows the concerns of farmers to be expressed freely.
