The two-day Globsec Bratislava Forum 2020 starts on Wednesday, with the main theme of the event being 'Let's heal the world together'. Globsec president Robert Vass stated that the forum will look for joint European solutions to the current crisis.
According to Vass, the highlight of the conference will be the appearance of Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who will be awarded a freedom prize for her contribution towards promoting democratic values and the protection of human rights.
This year's conference will observe strict hygienic rules, with those attending obliged to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. Even though the number of attendees will exceed 50, the current limit for any mass event in the country, the forum can take place thanks to an exemption from the Public Health Office conditioned on all participants presenting a negative COVID-19 test that is no older than 12 hours. The attendees will have the option to have themselves tested on the spot.
A majority of the participants will attend the conference only virtually. The list of those appearing in person will include President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski and various European premiers, foreign affairs ministers and defence ministers.
