Deputy Prosecutor-General (PG) Viera Kovačiková has filed a motion with the Constitutional Court to examine the imposition of a state of emergency in the country in connection to the current coronavirus epidemic, PG Office spokesperson Jana Tokolyová told TASR on Tuesday. The motion has been filed in order to remove doubts regarding whether the Government's recent declaration of a state of emergency for 45 days as of October 1st is constitutional. The opposition Smer-SD party has also filed a motion with the Constitutional Court to examine the Government's recent imposition of a state of emergency in the country. According to party leader Robert Fico, the Constitution states that the Government is obliged to specify the individual territories in which the state of emergency will be in place. The Constitutional Court should make a ruling on the issue within ten days.
