The military operations that are currently taking place in Nagorno-Karabakh are in sharp contrast with the UN Charter, Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (an SaS nominee) stated on Monday, calling on Russia and Turkey to make use of their influence in resolving the conflict in the said region. According to Korčok, both sides of the conflict are looking for help from their neighbours, which creates an opportunity for a serious regional crisis to ignite. "That's why we urge Russia and Turkey in particular to make use of their influence and make the parties in the conflict to return to the negotiating table," said Korčok. The minister at the same time expressed his hope that the USA as well as France, which are both co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group along with Russia, will engage in the efforts to resolve the conflict.
