Strengthening early child care and pre-primary education, modern schools, motivated teachers, as well as the reform of universities are the main strategic policies and initiatives in education until 2030 in the Modern and Successful Slovakia reform plan.
The legal right to kindergartens for children from the age of four is to apply from 2023, for children from the age of three from 2024. In 2024, the education of children aged four to six is expected to increase from 82 to 95%.
One of the key points is also significant hikes in teachers' incomes with the variable component of salaries to rise. Focus should also be placed on their education and professional development. Further changes in education should concern digitalisation, the management of regional education and the optimization of the network of primary schools. Another goal is improving of inclusive education in schools by strengthening support teams.
