Slovakia plans to increase the recycling rate of waste from 39% to 55% by 2026 as part of the Reform Plan called Modern and Successful Slovakia, presented on Monday. One of the goals is to reform the system of separate collection, and landfill fees should be gradually increased. €216 million should be invested into the transition to a circular economy. By 2022, the Government should also adopt a strategy and a roadmap for this transition. By 2026, the plans promise to initiate the removal of 276 environmental burdens. Moreover, a program to combat environmental crime effectively should also be prepared.
