October 15 is only the first day of the period during which individual EU-member countries can start sending their national recovery plans to Brussels; it is not the deadline, the head of the parliamentary European affairs committee Tomas Valasek (For the People) stated on Thursday following a session of the body. "Only one country has already drawn up its plan, namely France. To my knowledge, there are countries that haven't even started to prepare their plans yet," said Valasek. According to him, an earlier submission gives more time for a debate with the European Commission, which has its own vision of what the plans should contain. "The more time, the better the opportunity for Slovakia to negotiate conditions that are to its own rather than to the European Commission's liking," he explained.
