Russian intelligence services tried to infiltrate security forces in 2019

According to the Slovak Intelligence Service's activity report for 2019, members of the Russian intelligence services have tried to infiltrate the central state administration authorities as well as the security forces. According to the document, Russian agents, who have been operating in Slovakia mainly under diplomatic cover, regularly attended expert events on energy and defence matters at which they attempted to contact people who have access to sensitive classified data from the EU and NATO and people close to state representatives. SIS also focused on the Chinese intelligence services, who focused in particular on obtaining information regarding telecommunications technologies. The foreign intelligence services were also interested in cyber security and visits by senior Slovak representatives to Ukraine and the Balkans.
