The junior governing Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party will require an analysis of a possible merger of mandatory health and social insurance levies, the party's spokesman Ondrej Sprlak stated on Monday. The Dennik N daily reported on Friday (September 25) that Premier Igor Matovic was talking about a possible merger in terms of collecting health and social insurance and the introduction of a single social-health contribution. "We don't have it elaborated in detail yet, but I think this philosophy is correct - to make life as easy as possible for people. People will pay a single levy, and it will then be divided," head of the OLaNO caucus Michal Sipos told the daily, adding that there shouldn't be any problem with the caucus supporting the proposal.
Currently an employee in Slovakia contributes 13.4 percent of her or his gross monthly wage in mandatory health and social levies while the employer pays another 35.2 percent for that employee.
