Municipalities will be able to ban gambling on their territory without the need for public petitions, according to an amendment to the Gambling Act approved by Parliament on Tuesday. The amendment also bans the setting up of gambling establishments less than 500 metres from schools, care homes or facilities treating non-substance addictions. The new legislation will take effect as of November 1st.
