Slovakia has found itself between two fires in the dispute over gas for Ukraine. All major Slovak dailies report on this fact. The West is urging Slovakia to deliver natural gas to Ukraine as soon as possible, while Russia points out that we cannot ship the gas.
The Slovak government wants to reverse the gas flow towards Ukraine, but claims that preparations for such a change require several months. To secure the reverse gas flow to Ukraine, US Vice President Joe Biden called Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday. Fico told Biden that Slovakia was willing to deliver gas to Ukraine however under certain conditions.
