The Judicial Council elected Miroslav Gavalec as a candidate for a judge at the European Court of Justice with all seventeen board members voting for him. Gavalec works at the Supreme Court. In the past, he was one of the spokesmen for the Open Justice initiative, criticizing the situation in the judiciary in the era of Štefan Harabin, former Justice Minister, former Supreme Court chair and unsuccessful presidential candidate from 2019.
