Health Minister and main hygienist in quarantine

Slovak Health Minister Marek Krajčí and main hygienist Ján Mikas are in preventive quarantine after being in contact with a person who tested positive for coronavirus. "Unfortunately, an employee of the Health Ministry, who is a member of the consilium of epidemiologists, infectologists and public health workers was tested positive for coronavirus. We spent a couple of hours with him at the consilium meeting last Thursday (September 3)," said Krajčí, adding that they had face masks on during the whole meeting and that they regularly ventilated the room.

The minister said he would work from home now. Other consilium members will remain in preventive isolation as well. "We all will be tested on Tuesday (September 8) and I will inform you about the result. I believe that the test will be negative with regards to the measures we observed," stated the minister.

Members of the pandemic commission with whom the consilium members met on Friday (September 4) have no reason to worry, said Krajčí. "Even if we get infected, we cannot be infectious on the next day. And we all had face masks on there all the time as well," he added.
