The number of food producers in Slovakia has fallen by some eighty companies over the past five years, while employment in this sector had a similar decreasing trend, said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ľubomír Jahnátek (Smer-SD).
He spoke at an HNClub meeting on Tuesday called “Food Quality”, and underscored that this is a negative phenomenon which must be reversed. Jahnátek sees the reasons behind the decline being a lack of space on the local market for home producers.
