Nigel Marcus Baker has become the new Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Slovakia. Baker handed over his credentials to President Zuzana Caputova at the Presidential Palace on Thursday afternoon. "I'm very happy to be back in Slovakia. Slovakia and the United Kingdom share common interests and values, not least our mutual belief in democracy, freedom of speech, free trade, international partnership and sustainable development," said Baker. The new ambassador has been working in the diplomatic service since 1989. Nigel Marcus Baker was present at the opening the British Embassy in Slovakia in 1993 and served here as a Deputy Head of Mission until 1996.
