Firms Encouraged to Hire Long-term Unemployed

The Government wants to encourage companies to hire the long-term unemployed by paying part of the mandatory social contributions for them, according to the daily Pravda.  Currently more than 214,000 people have been unemployed for more than a year, and there are suspicions that some are in fact illegally employed.  "We welcome this move," said Association of Employers Unions president Rastislav Machunka. Currently companies can receive a one off subsidy for hiring such people but they have to guarantee that the job will be maintained for a certain period of time; however this is tricky for some employers who lack production orders.
