The Environment Minister Ján Budaj (OĽaNO) has permitted the killing of bears in cases where a respective expert commission identifies particular individuals that have lost their natural shyness and become dangerous to humans. "Bears that are no longer able to live in their natural habitat are too high a risk", said Budaj during his visit to the town of Vysoké Tatry on Sunday (August 30). Meanwhile, he announced that the Ministry would no longer entrust hunting associations with approved bear hunting. A special team of the State Nature Protection will be in charge of it. The minister ascribed the problem with bears appearing in human habitats in the High Tatras to the still insufficient protection of waste.
