MEP critical of Prime Minister's inaction concerning EU Recovery Funds

Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO) remains silent about Slovakia's recovery plan, even though the country must present how it plans to spend billions of euros from the Next Generation EU package to the European Commission this autumn, MEP Michal Šimečka (Progressive Slovakia) pointed out on Thursday on behalf of the Renew Europe political group.

"Today, Igor Matovič bears the responsibility for the largest financial resources ever assigned to Slovakia. He could be the prime minister to push Slovakia into the 21st century," said the MEP, adding that such a plan should not be devised at night, alone and behind closed doors. According to him, the only way forward is clear political leadership and discussions with the best experts and an honest elucidation of how the European funds will be used.
