New technologies are to replace coal mining in the Upper Nitra region. Investors are promising the production of wagons, geological drilling and tire recycling. Seven projects have advanced to the first round, three of them having been submitted by the mining company Hornonitrianske Bane Prievidza (HBP).
The largest investment plan is to swallow 100 million euro. Miners in cooperation with the freight wagon manufacturer Tatravagonka plan to launch an innovative production of chasses. The second, a 6-million-euro project, also involves wagons that miners repair. They would like to increase their capacities and they need the new equipment. The third, a 7-million-euro investment, is to focus on the production of electricity and heat from methane.
