The Finance Ministry will provide financial compensation to local governments. The money is to compensate local governments for the shortfall of income they suffered as a result of implementing social measures introduced by the government. Finance Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) announced this at a press conference attended by representatives of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS), the Association of self-governing regions SK8, and the Slovak Union of Towns (UMS). In the coming weeks, Heger wants to agree with local government officials on the mechanism of financial compensations and what financial package will be redistributed among them.
